Jeffrey Allen, 19 ½, Regina Saskatchewan
Jeffrey died of asphyxiation on the morning of April 14, 1991, after falling twenty feet through a thirty inch opening at the top of a heavy-oil processing reactor. A coroner’s inquest recommended mandatory safety training be provided for all new employees coming onto the site, the stringent enforcement of the use of safety harnesses and the use of a “buddy” system. Jeff enjoyed his work and became good friends with his co-workers. Jeff’s family meant a lot to him. He always took the time to stop and visit with his Grandparents and aunts and was really interested in the two new babies that arrived around Christmas. He was like a “protector” for his sisters and little brother. Jeff was dearly loved and is greatly missed by all who knew him. |
