Neville Joseph Martin, 23, Saint John, New Brunswick
On October 20, 1967, Neville fell twenty-three feet from some scaffolding while working on the construction of the Harbour Bridge in Saint John that opened in 1967 as a centennial project. He had no safety harness. Subsequently, a coroner’s jury recommended the use of railings. Neville was the eldest of eleven children. He was discharged from the army in 1965 and had spent 4 years in Germany. Neville had been married five months. |
